Mark Wasser, Summer Intern 2007
"I am very grateful for how welcome I (and everyone else) was made to feel upon my arrival. From my arrival and the duration of my stay, I've felt like there has always been an extraordinary effort to make myself and the other volunteers feel welcome. I always felt like I was treated as part of the ohana. Thank you.....The program was very interesting and I learned a ton. I think the five plants a day at the beginning is great, and perhaps something that could be pushed more throughout the duration of the program. Everyone provided a wealth of information about the local flora and fauna and were very accommodating of my continued questions."

Catherine Walker, Summer Intern 2004:
"Thank you all for making me feel so welcome here. You are all really motivated and hardworking and basically just fantastic people. I have totally enjoyed my time here in Koke'e and I can't wait to come back."

Jeanne Margaret Nurse from Harvard working  with us for two weeks in August 2004:
"Thank you so much for this excellent opportunity to help-out. What you guys are doing up here is awesome. I hope I can come back next summer and stay longer! I had a wonderful time. Thank you!"

Jace Bylenga, Summer Inter 2004:
“I volunteered for a week in the summer of ’03 and was a long term inter in ’ 04. Yes! I would do it again and have already recommended the program to friends. I found out about it through Dave and Lynn Hargreave and Western Michigan University’s environmental studies department. What did I like the most… I would have to say the location, but otherwise I loved the hiking and physical aspects of the work. Remote work was great also. My expectations were met. The work was described adequately except for a few instances when we were’t sure about killing everything or just large flowering gingers. I was always prepared for the work. Although it was great to work with kids on walls of ginger, that got a little old after a while. I would do it again though.”
